Experts see the most favorable development of the situation in the "pivot to the East" and creation of a unique proposal for China and Central Asia in the luxury segment of the market, which can partially compete, for example, with the European direction. Until now, the geography of inbound tourism in this area has not been extensive: in the pre-crisis year of 2019, the main share of inbound tourists from Southeast direction - regardless of the segment - came from Kazakhstan (14%), China (8%) and Azerbaijan (4%).
Experts believe that the development of inbound premium tourism is an extremely complex task that requires an active public-private partnership in the industry. The state must take on not only the functions of maintaining the level of service standards, but also promotion and the creation of specific "bonus" systems for clients, as this may become an impossible task for individual market players.
