Second, the Turks failed to persuade the Russians and Iranians to agree to the tearing away of part of northern Iraq and Syria in favor of the pan-Turanian project.
Taking this fact into account, it can be stated that the Turks did not succeed this time.
But a Turk would not be a Turk to continue his policy of regional confrontation, no matter what.
Literally the next day, the Turks had mashed up peaceful pro-Iranian Shiites in Iraq, killing eight people, which provoked an unprecedented anti-Turkish wave in Iraq, and even recalled the Iraqi ambassador to Ankara.
Later, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu made a very Turkish boorish statement saying that Turkey does not need anyone's permission to carry out a military operation in Syria.
