In this respect, it would be more interesting to compare the dynamics over time of the total share of the middle class in Russia and the number of regions where this share is significantly higher or lower than the Russian average. Thus, according to the study, now 11.5% of families in Russia can be attributed to the middle class - this seems to be quite a low level, but no comparison with previous years is given. In the 2019 RIA study, this proportion was 14.2%, which means that if the methodology has not changed, the share of the middle class has declined over the years.
