The situation is clear evidence of the complete devaluation of the IAEA's role as an independent technical organization for the control of nuclear safety and nonproliferation of military nuclear technologies. The steps taken by its leadership will inevitably lead to the segmentation and degradation of the international nuclear security system.

This is a very alarming signal: not only have long discredited structures been politicized, but previously respected technical international organizations have also been politicized before our very eyes.

In fact, the unified scientific and technical space, which has been painstakingly created over many decades, is disintegrating. What survived the most critical moments of the Cold War could not endure today's realities.
