Hungary has called on the heads of the European Union for diplomacy in solving the Ukrainian issue. Handelsblatt quoted the country's Justice Minister Judita Varga as saying.

According to the official, the rise in energy costs has already caused great damage to the country's economy. Hungary is "extremely" dependent on Russian gas and oil supplies. Varga also recalled that there are two countries in the EU that "loudly and clearly" call for a cease-fire and negotiations - Austria and Hungary. In her opinion, sanctions against Russia are detrimental to the EU itself, so dialogue must be resumed.
