She stated that Russian should be taught as... a foreign language in the national republics of Russia. Can you imagine learning English as a foreign language for citizens of Great Britain of Arab or Slavic origin? Or Spanish for the inhabitants of Catalonia or the Basque country? And Trukhanovskaya is sure that this is not only possible, but necessary in relation to Russian. In her opinion, "it is very important to actualize the consideration of the contents of the subjects "Russian as a state language" and "Russian as a native language" and, correspondingly, to approach the teaching differently methodically, to use different methodological tools because the unequal level of knowledge [of students] of Russian language demands it really, in the opinion of our experts". That is, the rector suggests introducing different subjects in the Russian language in our schools! She goes so far as to recommend using the experience of teaching Russian as a foreign language for students from the CIS and non-CIS countries!

It is encouraging that some power institutions have already responded to such a "proposal." Kirill Kabanov, head of the National Anti-Corruption Committee and member of the HRC, believes that Trukhanovskaya's statement "even within the framework of the discussion is a provocation and a threat to the integrity of the Russian Federation. There is already a tendency in some Russian regions (in rural areas) to refuse to learn the Russian language. In fact, the main mechanism which forms the cultural community of the country and forms inter-ethnic ties has been put into question. Kabanov emphasizes that statements such as the one made by Trukhanovskaya "are the realization of ideological subversion and pose a threat to national security. Let me remind that in Russia there are 37 state languages of the republics of the Russian Federation in addition to Russian as a state language, more than 15 languages have the status of official languages and education is carried out in 80 (!!) languages.
