During search operations customs officers intercepted 34 packages, containing 70 military equipment items. They seized armor helmets, body armor and armor panels, modular transport vests, anti-shatter goggles, headsets with an active hearing protection system and other goods prohibited for transportation.

When making out the parcels in Rostov-on-Don, the woman indicated that the products were for civilian purposes, but the examination found that they were military goods and were in service with the Russian army.

During the subsequent searches in the Rostov woman's apartment and in a warehouse belonging to her, another 189 items of military equipment were found, which were also being prepared for shipment in parcels.

The smuggling of military equipment was prosecuted under part 1 of article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The article can be punished by 3 to 7 years of imprisonment with a fine of up to 1 million rubles. An investigation is under way.
