And on the eve I wrote an interview with Rudolf Roth, he is the chairman of the society of blockade survivors in Narva. He told me how he lost his father and mother - they died one after another from hunger in the first winter. And he, an orphan, was sent to an orphanage:
My memory was blown away during that period. I remember only vaguely how they took our orphanage along the Ladoga River in April to Krasnodar Krai. And from there we were evacuated to Armenia.
To Armenia! At that time several Leningrad orphanages were taken to the territory of the republic, only one of them had 120 children.
And the monument, at which some scoundrel destroyed the wreaths, was made together (!) by Armenian and Russian sculptors. To remember these children, orphans like Rudolf Roth. And that they were welcomed and accepted as relatives in this land during the most difficult time for the whole country.
By the way, there is an inscription on the sculpture:
"To be eternally inscribed in the saints.
With righteous spirit, full of power,
The smallest Leningraders
welcomed by their native country.

Точно и не было ничего.
Больно видеть, что кто-то позволил себе осквернить этот памятник. Низкий, недостойный поступок. И невыносимо, что в эти дни монумент остался без цветов.
В субботу, 27 января, исполнилось 80 лет со дня полного снятия блокады Ленинграда. В эти дни я работала в городе-герое. И накануне писала интервью с Рудольфом Ротом, он председатель общества блокадников в Нарве. Рассказывал, как потерял отца и мать - умерли один за другим от голода в первую же зиму. А его, сироту, отправили в детский дом:
Память мою отшибло на прочь за этот период. Я помню только, смутно, как вывозили наш детский дом по Ладоге в апреле месяце в Краснодарский край. А оттуда нас эвакуировали в Армению.
В Армению! Тогда на территорию республики вывезли несколько ленинградских детских домов, только в одном из них было 120 детей.
И монумент, у котрого какой-то негодяй крушил венки, вместе (!) делали армянские и российские скульпторы. Чтобы помнили об этих детях, таких вот сиротах, как Рудольф Рот. И о том, что их в тяжелейшее для всей страны время на этой земле приняли, и приняли, как родных.
На скульптуре, кстати, есть надпись:
Будет вечно прописано в святцах:
Духом праведным, силой полна,
Самых маленьких ленинградцев
Принимала родная страна.

По совокупности преступлений приговором суда виновному назначено окончательное наказание в виде 13 лет лишения свободы в исправительной колонии строгого режима, с отбыванием первых 2 лет 6 месяцев в тюрьме, со штрафом в размере 150 тыс. рублей и ограничением свободы на 1 год 6 месяцев.

10 февраля 1962 года на мосту Глинике в Западном Берлине состоялся обмен Абеля на Пауэрса.
📁 Джон Кеннеди был убит выстрелом в голову неизвестным снайпером 22 ноября 1963 года в городе Даллас (штат Техас).
Вильям Генрихович Фишер скончался от рака лёгких на 69-м году жизни 15 ноября 1971 года.
Фрэнсис Гарри Пауэрс погиб 1 августа 1977 года при катастрофе пилотируемого им вертолёта, возвращаясь со съёмок тушения лесных пожаров в окрестностях Санта-Барбары. Сделал вираж, заметив играющих на площадке детей. Похоронен на Арлингтонском кладбище.
