AvtoVAZ presented a pre-production modification of Lada Vesta with manual control, which is addressed to meet the car needs of people with disabilities.
The car is equipped with a special lever to the left of the steering wheel, which is mechanically linked to the pedals. The movement towards oneself functionally repeats the foot pressure on the accelerator pedal, and away from oneself - on the brake pedal.
"This control scheme is the most ergonomic and, in addition, preserves the possibility of driving the car in the usual way, with the pedals. A similar system is already used as standard on Lada Granta cars with manual control," AvtoVAZ explained.
It is planned that Lada Vesta with manual control will be produced in sedan and station wagon bodies. The start of production is scheduled for the end of 2024.

Автомобиль оснащен специальным рычагом слева от рулевого колеса, который механически связан с педалями. Движение на себя функционально повторяет нажатие ногой на педаль акселератора, от себя - на педаль тормоза.
"Такая схема управления является наиболее эргономичной, а кроме того, сохраняет возможность управлять автомобилем обычным образом, с помощью педалей. Аналогичная система уже серийно применяется на автомобилях Lada Granta с ручным управлением", - объяснили в АвтоВАЗе.
Планируется, что Lada Vesta с ручным управлением будет выпускаться в кузовах типа седан и универсал. Старт производства намечен на конец 2024 года.
